The Mortal Races
Mortal races are those which fail all three of the conditions of senescence - they physically age, they can die of old age, and they can be killed - but are otherwise intelligent. Some of are descended from other, more powerful races. Others were created by the gods themselves.
The Demi-Titan Races
At the end of the War of the Titans , the gods stripped the Titans of their power, making them small and mortal and binding them to the physical world forever. Over time, the ex-Titans gathered into four distinct groups, each spawning a new race with its own own form and abilities - The Orcs, The Warg, The Humans, and The Goblins. These races bare little physical resemblence to their ancestors, but they still display their Titan blood in an inate drive to organize and build - and also consume.
Orcs
The orcs are the most physically imposing of the demi-Titan races. They live mostly in the hills and mountains around the [Jasilyan_Sea]. While orcs tend to keep to themselves, they all hate humans and vargren and will not tolerate incursions into their territories.
Vargren
The vargren - or "wargs" as human often refer to them - are the most bestial of the demi-Titans. Smaller than orcs and larger than humans, vargren are canine beings who hunt in packs. They use no tools or weapons.
Goblinkind
Goblins are by far the most intelligent of the demi-Titan races. They have a complex language and are skilled negotiators and traders. Human and goblin trading across the [Rowhard] has existed for hundreds, if not thousands of years.
Humans
Humans aren't quite as intelligent as goblins, and are far less physically imposing than orcs or even wargs. However, humans are prolific tool makers, and have even learned to make use of the ambient magic of Palboria, shaping it into spells and effects. In achieving this, they've set themselves apart from the other demi-Titan races.
The Children of Aftioch, aka The Monstrous Races
While "monstrous" is, of course, relative, the term is used here to refer to species who are both mortal and, while often unique and sometimes sentient, are rarely intelligent. These races embody Palboria's often savage, brutal nature, that remnant of the ancient wars that the demi-titans fight against.
Ogres, trolls, minatyr, and other humanoid races are lumped into this category. While they appear similar to the the demi-Titan Races in shape, they share none of the demi-Titan traits of social structure or tool use. They are violent, and usually live solitary lives with no commonality with even their own relatives.
Often, the term "children of Aftioch" is used to describe these creatures, although the validity of the story of Aftioch has been called into question. Even if the story were true, none can say for certain which monsters originated with her and which are simply a result of the war with the Titans' affect on Palboria.
Giants
Supposedly the offspring of Aftioch's revels with the Titans, the giants are huge humanoids who live in the mountains and deserts of Palboria.
Ogrim
Ogrekind are solitary brutes, wandering the hillier areas of Palboria.
Trolls
Trolls are big, shaggy humanoids who inhabit the forests and swamps of the world. They are ravenous omnivores.
The Minatyr
The [Minatyr] are strange combinations of human and animal, often manifesting as massive, muscular humans with animal heads and features. Many scholars have argued that they belong to the Devourers and should not be included with other humanoid monsters.
The Devourers
Devourers is a catch-all term used to describe the more bestial Children of Aftioch. These are creatures that display both magical abilities and unnatural, destructive behavoir. Creatures such as chimeras, rocs, griffins, and other monstrous, non-humanoid beasts are covered under this category.
