Trolls
Trolls are large humanoid creatures found primarily in woody, mountainous areas. Although not nocturnal, trolls avoid direct sunlight as much as possible, prefering to stick to deep forests and rocky low hills. They often take up residence in caves or under rocky overhangs, but they've been known to live under structures such as bridges or abanadoned castles.
Trolls are tall, generally between 12' and 20' in height, and they are much broader in torso and limb proportion than other humanoids. This makes them slow, but powerful creatures.
Trolls are extremely hairy, with some covered almost head to toe in long, shaggy hair. Because they stick to damp, shady areas, it's not uncommon for troll fur to support populations of lichens, fungi, algae, sometimes even ivy or other plants. This gave rise to the misconception that trolls are related to trees or are, themselves, made of wood.
Trolls aren't unintelligent, it's more that they have an adverse reaction to anything that makes them think too hard. A troll will react violently to the presence of other creatures in their habitat because of this. And while they are not hunters, they are omnivores and will eat any creature unfortunate enough to get too close.
