Vargren

The vargren - also known as "wargs" in some human tongues - are the most bestial of the demititans. Smaller than orcs and larger than humans, vargren are wolf-like in appearance, with deadly claws for hands, long snouts full of sharp teeth, and covered head to tail in a thick black coat with silver markings reminiscent of a husky. They use no weapons, and the only clothing they wear are the feathers, animal bones, and trinkets which are woven into their fur by their spousal group.

Vargren society is pack-based, with most packs living in caves in the mountains ringing the [Vyrkanean valley]. Their families are structured in polycules dominated by a single family head; while most family heads are male, polycule matriarchs are far from rare. The size of the polycule is seen as a symbol of the family head's strength and influence in the community, and heads with large polycule's are often adorned with intricate braiding and decoration.

The vargan numbers are small, and they primarily restrict their game hunts to [the valley], although they have often roved into human territories to the west and orc territories to the south.

Vargren fear orcs, and the orc hunting parties that occassionally wander into the southern reaches of the valley are often avoided. Humans, however, are seen as weak, and some vargen consider them game. Human hunting parties often wander deep into the Great Wilderness, and vargren hunting packs that pick up their scent will often pursue.
