The Truth of Palboria

Palboria is a world in flux.

The War with the Titans didn't just tire the gods out, it actually poisoned the world with magical detritus that made it difficult for the gods to continue dominating the mortal realm. Centuries later, few of the gods have enough followers and enough power to make any real change in the world. Those that can still muster the magic to appear in avatar form do so rarely to affect change and more often in an effort to increase their profile in the world, or to prevent another god from increasing theirs. They are constantly sending heroes off to recover some lost magical artifact or perform some great deed in order to make themselves more visible, and thus increase their ranks of followers - because followers means faith, and faith means power.

Seolous is not just a god of Palboria, he's the god of Palboria. He was born along with the world, and this is his home plane. However Seolous, just like the world he inhabits, just wants to be left alone, and really doesn't care what people do as long as it doesn't threaten the safety of the world. Occassionally, Seolous will come down from his heaven to prevent world-killing disaster, but more often than not The King Above just allows creation to trundle along without him.

Kaeleth and Kulbar are Seolous' unintended children, born from the world of Palboria. They are two of the most powerful gods, even divided, but they spend so much time interfering with each other that neither has realized how powerful they really are.

The Elves and Dwarves truly really are gone. Most of them. Two Elves - Hannis and Firanz - have an underground tower in the Turan Desert. One very old Dwarf also exists, although no mortals alive know this - Chyorn Blackhammer himself is imprisoned deep in the earth below the ruins of what was once the Dwarven capitol city of Odvertsa, in the center of what is now the Stygian Wastes, imprisoned in a device that both tortures and heals him for all of eternity, placed there by some unknown hand.

The Human Empire is on the rise. The Human Empire is always on the rise. That's because every thousand years or so someone discovers some ancient Elven or Dwarvish war item or ancient Titan magic and accidentally - or intentionally - blasts humanity back to the basics. Humans have a surprising ability to forget about these near-extinction-level events and have every confidence that this time, for sure, humanity is unstoppable.

Tira is very busy, perhaps the busiest of all gods. She spends a lot of her time manipulating both mortals and gods alike, trying to prevent these destruction events. Hers is a constant battle, forever attempting to keep humans safe and thriving, pushing them to get just a little bit further before the next reset occurs.
